Remember that song by Lovindeer about Hurricane Gilbert? Gilbert came to Jamaican shores some twenty years ago on September 12, 1988. I can’t help but notice the similarities, they both were formed in the latter part of the hurricane season and both names begin with the letter “G”. Let’s just hope that's where the similarities end.

LOL! I do remember that song. It was the first real hurricane in Jamaica for over 5 years. I sat at my window for most of it. Well lets hope it's not too bad.

ReplyDeleteFortunately Gustav was just a tropical storm when it came ashore. I missed the news yesterday so I still haven't heard how bad it hit us but I doubt he'll get his own song and become etched in Jamaican folklore
